If you’re a battery manufacturer looking to have your product reviewed on my YouTube channel: Cleversolarpower by Nick, here’s how I work. No surprises.
When the review will go live
When I receive a battery, I will review it. That’s a guarantee. I don’t sit on products, and I don’t need your approval before publishing. Once the battery is in my hands, the review will go live within one month.
My reviews are my own honest opinion based on my own testing. I won’t sugarcoat things, and I won’t hold back criticism to protect a business relationship. That’s what makes the review worth anything to your potential customers.
Shipping requirements
Batteries must ship from a local warehouse, not directly from the manufacturer. This ensures the product I receive is the same as what your customers receive. I will not accept units shipped directly from a factory or sent as a specially prepared sample.
All shipping costs to my location are covered by you. If a battery arrives damaged, I will contact you to arrange a replacement. Whether the damage is your fault or the shipping company’s fault, it will be mentioned in the video. My audience sees the full picture.
If there are technical issues
If I run into technical issues during testing, I will contact you before drawing conclusions. I want to be fair, and sometimes an issue turns out to be user error or a misunderstanding of the specs. You’ll get the chance to clarify. However, I review the product that arrives at my door. If you tell me it’s a bad batch and the others are fine, that won’t change my review. I have no way to verify that, and my audience deserves an honest assessment of what’s shipped out globally to customers.
A bad review isn’t the end of the world
A bad review isn’t necessarily bad for your company. It shows my audience that the channel is honest, and it gives you real-world feedback you can actually use to improve your product. If you have worked out all the issues you can send me the new version for another review.
What I don’t do
I don’t take photos of myself with the product, and I don’t produce lifestyle shots. The review video is the deliverable. I make one video per battery unless there are some issues that need to be addressed.
No exclusivity
Agreeing to a review does not give your company any exclusivity. I review products from competing manufacturers before, during, and after reviewing yours. I don’t hold off publishing to give any brand a competitive window.
Your rights to the content
The video remains my property. You are welcome to embed it on your website or social media, and you can use screenshots for marketing purposes. You may not re-upload the video, edit it, or alter the content in any way.
No editorial input
The content is entirely mine from start to finish. I don’t accept suggested talking points, scripts, or pre-publish previews. Once the video is published, I don’t take requests to change or remove it. The one exception is if new findings come to light that prove something in the video is factually incorrect or misrepresents your company. In that case, I will address it fairly.
YouTube comments
I don’t delete comments on my videos on behalf of any brand. If viewers leave critical comments, that is not something I will moderate or manage for you. The only comments I remove are those that are personally insulting. In my whole YouTube career I had to do this only two times.
Disclosure and disclaimer
Because the battery is provided free of charge for review purposes, this will be disclosed in the video in line with FTC guidelines and EU advertising regulations as ‘includes paid promotion’ or ‘sponsored product’. The review reflects my personal opinion based on my own testing, and results can vary depending on use case and setup. Nothing in this review should be taken as professional advice.
By sending a product for review, you agree to these terms.
